Butterfly Release at Weddings
Updated: Jan 13, 2020
It's spring!!!! Which means butterflies will start fluttering around! They are so beautiful and I enjoy watching them on my butterfly plants! One of my favorite things to do while working is watching my butterflies and hummingbirds, it just brings me great joy!
Since it is butterfly season and I know that a lot of brides will be releasing them on their wedding day or at least giving it some serious thought, I feel it is important to share some facts with you before you make the decision to include them on your special day!
1) Weather -- It is important that they are in temperatures higher than 60 degrees.
2) Packaging -- Sometimes they come in envelopes and may be dead upon arrival
3) Cold Blooded -- Butterflies are cold blooded and need to be warm to fly. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
Please check out this blog in regards to weather and how it affects butterflies. https://butterfly-fun-facts.com/weather-and-releasing-butterflies/.
Also, PETA is strongly against releasing butterflies so I encourage you to check out their site to see what they have to say. https://www.peta.org/blog/butterfly-release-wedding/
Even though butterflies are beautiful when released and they no doubt add a touch of romance, you have to be prepared for the worst case scenario. So, once you have looked over all the pros and cons I trust that you will make the right decision for you and your future husband's wedding while keeping in mind, you may not get what you were planning for, but if you do, what a beautiful sight to behold!!
Happy planning! :)
